Cancer awareness program was successfully organized in Tihar Jail No.1
Senior Correspondent / Live news delh…A cancer awareness program was organised in central jail no 1 tihar on 03.05.2025 for the benifit of the inmates and staff. dr.devavrat arya, department of medical oncology, max cancer centre, saket new delhi, a reputed medical professional specializing in oncology. was invited as chief guest. he addressed the inmates highlighting the crucial aspects of cancer awareness.
dr. arya emphasized that every year approximately 18 lakh new cases of cancer are diagnosed. he also underscored the significant role of tobacco ans smoking in increasing cancer risk by 30-40 however he offereda message of hope. stating that lifestyle changes can substantially reduce the risk of developing cancer.
He stressed the importance of early detection and regular health check ups which can help detect cancer at an early the chances of successful treatment he adviced the inmates to avoid tobacco consumption and to adopt healthy habits.
he also briefed about the available treatment options and resources.
the cancer awareness sessions was followed by a cultural program with the association of the NGO art creations cultural society to educate and raise awareness about cancer prevention and risk reduction. This initiative by the jail authorities was very much helpful in improving healthcare awareness and rehabilitation services for inmates.
