Charles Darwin Day Special on February 12:

Darwin Day is celebrated every year on February 12 to honor Charles Darwin, born on this date in 1809. He is known as the father of modern evolutionary theory.Darwin’s groundbreaking book, On the Origin of Species (1859), introduced the theory of evolution by natural selection. He proposed that all species, including humans, share common ancestors and evolve gradually over time through natural selection. This challenged traditional views on human origins, suggesting humans evolved from earlier primates.Darwin Day promotes scientific thinking, curiosity, and evidence-based inquiry worldwide. An Indian Perspective

In contrast, Indian scientist Dr. Prabhakar Rao Chavare (born August 10, 1938, in Achalpur, Maharashtra) challenged Darwin’s ideas. After decades of research, he published Science for Genetic Engineering (2012, with later editions), introducing his Auto Genetic Theory (or Self-Origin Theory E-7).He argued that humans and other organisms originated spontaneously (auto-genetically) under favorable conditions, without evolving from apes or other ancestors. He claimed Darwin’s theory was incomplete, noting that if humans came from apes,

apes should no longer exist—yet monkeys and chimpanzees do.His work was highlighted in a special online issue of the Indian Journal of Scientific Research (November 2017). He received recognition, including a “Doctor of Science in Elementopathy” title from an institute in Maharashtra.Dr. Chavare was also a dedicated social worker.
Through his NGO, Technical Professional Education in India Foundation, he empowered underprivileged youth with education and training for self-reliance. After his passing, his son Balwant Chavare continues this work. Some in his hometown suggest celebrating August 10 as ‘World Human Day’ in his honor and view him as a key figure in understanding human origins.
